Club of Three 17th Plenary Meeting

The Three and America

2 - 3 October 2009
Paris

Hosted at the Quai d’Orsay in Paris, the 17th Plenary Meeting of The Club of Three focused on the 'Three and America' in the light of the new US administration, the economic crisis and the changing global balance of power. The dinner was hosted by the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Dr. Bernard Kouchner. He addressed those present and was followed by the British Foreign Secretary, David Miliband, who gave a well received speech during which he discussed the role of Europe in the World. The second day’s proceedings centred on the prospects for rebalancing our economic and social systems given the challenges which have arisen in the wake of the recent global financial crisis. This year’s highly stimulating conference concluded with a working lunch hosted by Sir Peter Westmacott, the UK Ambassador to France at his residence in Paris.
