Club of Three: Special Session on Defence

After the Crisis: Convergence versus Divergence

25 - 26 March 2011
Versailles

This gathering of defence experts, industry chiefs, policy makers and political figures served once again as a forum for high-level discussions of issues facing Europe in the sphere of defence policy and national security.

Sessions explored how the financial crisis is affecting the shape of European defence today and its long-term trajectory; assessed the state of industrial and political cooperation with the United States; and discussed new challenges within the nexus of security and defence. Speakers included EADS CEO Louis Gallois, former French Foreign Minister Hubert Vedrine, UK Security Minister Baroness Neville-Jones, and the Chairman of the French Economic Analysis Council  Christian de Boissieu.
