Prison and Probation Officers Practitioner Exchange
Managing Extremist Offenders from a Practitioners' Perspective
5 - 6 December 2011
Birmingham
In partnership with the ReCoRa Institute, ISD organised an exchange to bring together prison and probation officers from across Europe to discuss the key issues related to managing extremist offenders from a practitioners' perspective.
Participants from Sweden, the Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Denmark and the UK considered issues such as effective approaches to managing extremist offenders, approaches and good practice in de-radicalising and rehabilitating offenders and the difference between managing extremist offenders and managing other offenders.
In the long-term, the project aims to provide professional development and peer support, creating a stronger link between the development of policy and research and the perspectives of practitioners.
