Weidenfeld Scholars Policy Analysis Workshop
In cooperation with RAND Europe
14 - 17 March 2011
Cambridge
Building on the success of last year’s Policy Analysis workshop, six Weidenfeld Scholars were given the opportunity by RAND Europe to participate in a workshop on 14-17 March 2011. The aim of the workshop was to introduce Scholars to policy analysis and encourage them to think about the use of evidence in informing policymaking. During the workshop the groups of Scholars examined two specific research topics: the ‘Social Impact Bond’ at Peterborough Prison, and an analysis of illicit markets, particularly the drug market.
RAND Europe is a not-for-profit research institution whose mission is to improve policy and decision-making through research and analysis. The workshop was hosted by its Communities, Safety and Justice Programme whose research areas include sentencing and interventions to reduce crime and reoffending; drug classification and supply; addictions and substance abuse; illicit markets; violent crime; and policing.
