The Weidenfeld Scholars
To date 113 Scholars have taken part in the Weidenfeld Scholarships and Leadership Programme. They are an increasingly diverse group, originating from 37 countries, with new Scholars from Kosovo and Yemen joining the 2012-13 cohort. The group studies a wide variety of subjects in 25 different departments.

Maria is now in her second year doing a DPhil in Clinical Neurology. Before coming to Oxford, she gained Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degrees (2010) from St. John’s Medical College in Bangalore, India. In 2007, she was awarded the Indian Council of Medical Research Student Research Fellowship for work for the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences. In 2007, Maria also received India’s Young Scientist award from the Minister of Science and Technology and was chosen to represent her country at the Lindau Young Scientists and Nobel Laureates meeting in Germany. From 2007-10, she undertook extensive research and participated in various conferences focused on Neuroscience and Anatomy, Psychiatry, and Neurogenesis. Maria would like to conduct further research to inform health care policy and advance the field of Neurology in India.
