The Weidenfeld Scholars
To date 113 Scholars have taken part in the Weidenfeld Scholarships and Leadership Programme. They are an increasingly diverse group, originating from 37 countries, with new Scholars from Kosovo and Yemen joining the 2012-13 cohort. The group studies a wide variety of subjects in 25 different departments.

Saltanat completed her MSc (2008) and transferred to an MPhil (completed in 2009) in Comparative Social Policy as a Weidenfeld Scholar before undertaking her DPhil, starting in 2009. Before coming to Oxford, she worked as a Project Assistant for Social Policy Reform, Child Protection, Research, Monitoring and Evaluation Projects at the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Her field of expertise is Child Poverty, well-being and child agency. Saltanat would like to continue to generate scholarship in the area of Child Poverty in Central Asia and, after her studies, intends to return to Kyrgyzstan to take a leading role in implementing more efficient social reforms in order to eradicate child poverty.
