The Weidenfeld Scholars
To date 113 Scholars have taken part in the Weidenfeld Scholarships and Leadership Programme. They are an increasingly diverse group, originating from 37 countries, with new Scholars from Kosovo and Yemen joining the 2012-13 cohort. The group studies a wide variety of subjects in 25 different departments.

Yuliya has had a long term interest in child development and education. Her experience includes work for the Lutheran League, and as a language specialist at the Zeynep Education Centre, both in Almaty, Kazakhstan. She completed a BA in Cognitive Processes & Experimental Linguistics at the Suleyman Demirel University in Almaty. As a Weidenfeld Scholar, Yuliya undertook an MSc in Child Development and Education with the hope of challenging the structures of education in Post-Soviet Kazakhstan, and beginning work focused on devising a new system for children's education and learning. Yuliya's aim is to lead the revival in education in Kazakhstan, by establishing highly-advanced international education centres for children and young people.
