Sophie Kim - Alumnus
Country: United States
College: Lincoln College
Subject: Global Health Science
Degree: MSc
Year started: 2009
Sophie finished an MSc in Global Health Sciences as a Weidenfeld Scholar in 2010. She hopes to build on her experience as a Fulbright Research Fellow at Toronto University, where she investigated barriers to HIV-related interventions for marginalised inner-city groups. In Lesotho, she worked with the Baylor International Paediatric AIDS Initiative and, back in the US, with Beyond Traditional Borders- a initiative for students who work on HIV/AIDS issues abroad. One of the driving forces behind Sophie's application to the University was 'Oxford's uniqueness in comparison to other public health programmes in that it specifically focuses on issues of the marginalised'. In the future, Sophie sees herself working at the World Health Organisation or serving as the US Global AIDS Coordinator.
