Cultural Bridges

The Cultural Bridges Initiative has "incubated" the International Prize for Arabic Fiction and successfully developed it into one of the most prestigious prizes for Arabic literature, including a significant international translation and publishing commitment. The programme also regularly explores, through a series of high-level seminars with heads of cultural institutions across Europe, the US and Russia, the role the Arts, Museums and Libraries can play in bridging social and cultural divides in contemporary global society.

The following initiatives form part of Cultural Bridges:

 

International Prize for Arabic Fiction

ISD ‘seeded' the International Prize for Arabic Fiction in 2007 to promote Arabic literary merit and encourage reading and writing in the Arab world alongside developing global translations and regular exchanges between Arab and Western publishers and writers. More

 

Arts, Museums & Libraries

Lord Weidenfeld and Martin Roth

This initiative examines the role the Arts, Museums and Libraries can play in bridging social and cultural divides in contemporary global society. More

 

 

Weidenfeld Visiting Chair of Comparative European Literature 

St Anne's College The Weidenfeld Visiting Chair of Comparative European Literature brings to  St Anne's College, Oxford, a distinguished scholar who delivers six to eight one hour lectures and holds two seminars on a wide range of comparative literature. More

 

 

The Oxford-Weidenfeld Translation Prize
