Exit Strategies: Former Radicals Research

This research project included a feasibility study on the development of a European network of former radicals. This pilot project engages one of the most effective constituencies in countering the appeal of extremist ideologies and the prolific recruitment and mobilisation of vulnerable individuals, former radicals who have themselves spent time within extremist networks but have now rejected their ideologies and left these groups. The Institute’s project includes conducting research on the processes of radicalisation and de-radicalisation in Britain, the Netherlands, Germany and Denmark and aims to consider methods to counter radicalisation and recruitment efforts in Europe and de-legitimise violent extremism.
